Hawzah News Agency-A Palestinian man was assaulted by Israeli settlers on Friday near the al-Sawiya village south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank.
Palestinian security sources told that Issa Saleh Muhammad Saleh, 55, from al-Sawiya was taken to the Rafidiya Hospital in Nablus City after being beaten by four Israeli settlers at a n intersection near al-Sawiya.
It remained unclear the degree to which Saleh was injured.
A spokesperson from the Coordination of Government Affairs in the Territories (COGAT), the group responsible for implementing the Israeli government’s policies in the occupied West Bank, was not immediately available for comment.
The Palestinian government has no jurisdiction over Israelis in the West Bank, and violent acts carried out by Israeli settlers often occur in the presence of Israeli military forces, who rarely act to protect Palestinian residents.
Israeli human rights group Yesh Din, along with Israeli rights group B’Tselem have previously condemned Israeli authorities for failing to protect Palestinians from settler’s violence or investigate attacks when incidents of attacks on harvesters and their olive groves have been a near daily occurrence in past years.
